CREWING MANAGER

 

Dunlap Towing Company is seeking a Crewing Manager in Everett, WA. The Crewing Manager will be responsible for assisting with recruiting, hiring and retaining crew members. The position will schedule and manage the transportation of the crews. The position will also assist in other managerial and operational duties as assigned. This position is a fundamental position within our company. It requires working with employees of all levels while providing comprehensive support to company management.

 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Assist in recruiting and hiring of crew members
  • Plan and schedule crewing for sailings
  • Schedule crew transportation
  • Understand and help negotiate collective bargaining agreements (MMP and IBU)
  • Work closely with Payroll on ATO (accumulated time off) and union seniority lists
  • Work closely with DER on implementation/enforcement of drug and alcohol policy

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently AND in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage/plan expectations
  • Organized with high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with others inside and outside the organization via telephone, e-mail and in person.
  • Dispatch and/or marine experience is preferred.

DIESEL MECHANIC

 

LOCATION: Everett, Washington

HOURS:  Consistent daily schedule:   7:00 am – 3:30 pm

 

Description:

The Marine Diesel Mechanic will be part of a shore-side crew servicing and maintaining a fleet of tugboats. This position will be required to perform some additional duties outside of diesel mechanic to prepare vessels to sail. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Requires working in confined spaces, heavy lifting, and being able to board tugs and barges.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Mechanical experience with understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and work independently.
  • Physically able to board tugs and barges.
  • Requires working in confined spaces.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently with little guidance.
  • Ability and willingness to work well alongside others as part of a team.
  • 5+ years of mechanical experience/knowledge performing diagnoses, repairs and maintenance on diesel engines – CAT, Detroit and Cummins preferred.

Puget Sound Deckhand

 

Requirements:

Valid MMC

Valid USCG Medical Certificate (with valid STCW date)

Valid Transportation Identification Credential (TWIC)

Crewing: 15 consecutive days

Work Area: Puget Sound

Schedule may include day work in the harbor.

Must be admissible to Canada.

IBU position, pay and benefits.

 

 

 

Engineer/Deckhand

 

Requirements:

Valid MMC with minimum DDE 4,000 HP

Valid USCG Medical Certificate (with valid STCW date)

Valid Transportation Identification Credential (TWIC)

Crewing: Two weeks on – Two weeks off

Work Area: Puget Sound

Must be admissible to Canada.

IBU position, pay and benefits.

Marine Mechanic/Maintenance Position

 

LOCATION: Everett, Washington

HOURS: Consistent daily schedule:   7:00 am – 3:30 pm

 

Description:

Looking for an experienced individual with knowledge of marine diesel engines and systems (hydraulic, air, electrical, plumbing, etc.)  Will work as part of a shore-side crew servicing and maintaining a fleet of tugboats. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

MARINE AB/COOKS

Minimum Qualifications: Valid MMC with AB endorsement, and TWIC.

 

 

 

LICENSED MASTER

The Master is responsible at all times for the safe operations of the vessel, the safety of the crew and the protection of the environment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MMC Master 1600 GRT Master of Towing Oceans
  • Medical Certificate STCW and National.
  • STCW with all required endorsements (including but not limited to: Master, GMDSS, AFF, VSO)
  • First/Aid/CPR training certificate.
  • Hazwoper training within 90 days of hire.
  • State Driver’s License.
  • US Passport.
  • Permanent residence in Washington or Oregon is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.
  • Experience sailing as Master five year minimum.

Experience sailing in Western Alaska as Master three year minimum.

 

 

 

CHIEF ENGINEER

Requirements:

  • Valid MMC with minimum DDE 500GT
  • Valid USCG Medical Certificate (with valid STCW date)
  • Valid Transportation Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience sailing as sole engineer
