CREWING MANAGER

 

Dunlap Towing Company is looking for a Crewing Manager to join our team! This position plays a vital role within our operations, coordinating our vessel crews to ensure there are no disruptions to our schedules and barges reach their destinations on time. The Crewing Manager is responsible for assisting with recruiting, hiring and retaining crew members. He/she will schedule crews, manage the transportation of crews and assist in other managerial and operational duties as assigned. This position has an important role working closely with employees of all levels while providing comprehensive support to company management.

 

Starting Salary $75,000. Negotiable based on experience.

Crewing Manager Requirements:

  • Assist in recruiting and hiring of crew members
  • Plan and schedule crewing for sailings
  • Schedule crew transportation
  • Understand and help negotiate collective bargaining agreements (MMP and IBU)
  • Work closely with Payroll on ATO (accumulated time off) and union seniority lists
  • Work closely with DER on implementation/enforcement of drug and alcohol policy

 

Crewing Manager Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently AND in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage/plan expectations
  • Organized with high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with others inside and outside the organization via telephone, e-mail and in person.

  • US Passport.
  • Permanent residence in Washington or Oregon is preferred.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.

  • Valid USCG Medical Certificate (with valid STCW date)
  • Valid Transportation Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience sailing as sole engineer

LICENSED MASTER

    • 500 GRT Master of Towing Near Coastal, Oceans preferred.
    • Medical Certificate STCW and National.
    • STCW with all required endorsements (including but not limited to: Master, AFF, VSO)
    • First/Aid/CPR training certificate.
    • Hazwoper training within 90 days of hire.
    • State Driver’s License.
    • US Passport.
    • Permanent residence in Washington or Oregon is preferred.
    • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.
    • Experience sailing as Master five year minimum.
    • Experience sailing on the West Coast, Hawaii, and Alaska
